Manufacturing and industry

The cost of a stopped line is counted by the minute. The floor runs locally; management sits at the center.

Where it gets hard

In manufacturing, infrastructure has one job first: keep the line running.

For scale: the average cost of a minute of downtime is $4,537. PagerDuty 2026 →

01

A line tied to the center

If plant systems depend on the center or the internet, a single dropped connection stops production too.

EDGE INFRASTRUCTURE

Systems on the plant floor run locally; the line keeps moving even when the connection drops.

02

One redundancy level everywhere

Apply the same redundancy across the whole plant and the critical line is under-protected while the others are over-provisioned.

REDUNDANCY PLAN

Redundancy is designed per line, not per plant; critical lines are doubled and the rest run single.

03

Networks open to each other

A threat that gets into the office network can reach the line if it finds an open path into the production network.

OT–IT SEPARATION

The production network is never opened to the office network; all traffic between them passes through one audited point.

What we do in this industry

01
EDGE INFRASTRUCTURE

Systems on the plant floor run locally; the line keeps moving even when the connection drops.

  • Virtualized server infrastructure at the line
  • Production systems that keep running locally when the connection drops
  • 24/7 monitoring of plant infrastructure from the center
Compliance and assurance

Manufacturing now counts as critical infrastructure.

Cybersecurity Law

Manufacturing is one of the fifteen critical infrastructure sectors the law lists. If you are in scope, the obligations to provide logs and to report vulnerabilities and incidents are already in force.

Separation on record

Crossings between the networks are logged, so after an incident you can show what passed where.

ISO/IEC 27001

Eclit is certified to ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management.

Does the line stop if the internet goes down?

No. The systems that drive the line run at the plant itself, so production carries on through a connection loss.

Will updates disrupt production?

No. The maintenance window is agreed with you around your shift plan and announced in advance.

Do all lines need doubled systems?

No. Doubled systems go only to critical lines, and we decide together, from your production plan, which lines those are.

How is the production network kept apart from the office network?

The separation is built in from the start: the two networks are set up apart, with a single controlled crossing point between them.
